RIB-DIB

The Shaw Group

What is RIB-DIB?

RIB-DIB is the common process of filing jointly for Social Security Retirement and Social Security Disability. RIB is the acronym the Social Security Department uses for Retirement Insurance Benefits. DIB is the acronym for Disability Insurance Benefits.

Who Qualifies?
If you are between the ages of 62 and 65 and have been forced into early Social Security Retirement through company downsizing or work related injury, you may qualify. Press the "Click Here" button for a free evaluation.

What are the Benefits?
The RIB is reduced every month that it is taken prior to reaching Full Retirement Age. Example:  if your full retirement age is 66 and you file for retirement at the age of 62 your basic benefit will be reduced by a certain percentage for each of the 48 months you filed early.

DIB benefits are not reduced; they pay the amount prior to any reduced benefit, in some instances this is hundreds of dollars a month more.  Then when you do reach Full Retirement Age you are paid the unreduced benefit amount as well, with no additional paperwork or contact to the SSA office.
